CBI files chargesheet against a BSNL Officer for possession of huge assets : Cash of Rs.1.32 crore recovered during search

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed a chargesheet against Shri Babilsash Hansdak, the then Senior Accounts Officer (Cash) working in the office of PGMT, BSNL Patna, in a disproportionate assets case. His wife and another relative has also been named in the chargesheet. The case was registered against the accused on 23.4.2004. Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused, which yielded a recovery of cash of Rs.1,32,03,010/-.

CBI investigation revealed that the accused Sh. B. Hansdak acquired assets in his name and in the name of his family member to the extent of Rs.1,71,32,261/- by corrupt & illegal means for which he could not satisfactorily account for. His wife Smt. Alphon Soren conspired with him and claimed income from stitching & embroidery etc. But neither she could produce any proof in support of her claim nor she could produce any income tax return.

Investigation further established that Sh. Chatrapati Shahi Munda, a relative of accused claimed the amount Rs.1,32,03,010/- which was recovered from the residence of accused. He made a false statement in this regard and deliberated attempt for causing disappearance of evidence against the accused.
