CBI arrests a Delhi Police Official for bribe

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Sub-Inspector of Delhi Police posted at Special Cell, Northern Region, Rohini, Delhi for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 60,000/- from the complainant.

It was alleged in the complaint that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs. two lakh from the complainant , a Travel Agent of Mumbai in lieu of return of passports of different passengers which had been taken over by accused Sub-Inspector unauthorisedly from him during checking at a Guest House, Paharganj, opposite New Delhi Railway Station. The accused later agreed to accept Rs.60,000/-. The CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.60,000/- from the complainant. The accused was produced in the designated court Delhi today and remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
