As per the Election Commission's Notification No. ECI/PN/40/2005 dated 5th October, 2005 bye-elections to the Lok Sabha from Kerala, Maharashtra and Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra were announced. The date of poll for these bye-elections was fixed as 19th November, 2005.
Subsequently the Government of Kerala has informed that a big festival known as __________ Church festival will be celebrated on the same day in some parts of 20-Trivandrum Parliamentary Constituency and there will be a local holiday in that region. The Commission has considered this information and is of the opinion that a sizable number of voters of 20-Trivandrum Parliamentary Constituency will face difficulties in exercising their franchise if poll is held on that day.
The Commission has, therefore, decided to prepone the date of poll for bye election from 20-Trivandrum Parliamentary Constituency to 18th November, 2005 (Friday). The other schedules remain unchanged.
