The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during the period April-August of this fiscal has been estimated at 3,78,728 tonnes as against 3,46,280 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this, the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) produced 1,47,757 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity 42,609 tonnes. The private sector Hindalco Industries Limited (HINDALCO) produced 1,72,746 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) 15,616 tonnes. The production has crossed the target of 3,75,675 tonnes.
In August 2005, the total production of Aluminium in the country was 78,770 tonnes against a target of 77,172 tonnes. Out of this, NALCO produced 30,616 tonnes, BALCO 9,019 tonnes, HINDALCO 35,930 tonnes and MALCO 3,205 tonnes. NALCO, during the month sold 63,003 tonnes of Alumina Hydrate and exported 7,044 tonnes of Aluminium.
