The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) today signed a Concession Agreement for 4-laning the Mahua-Jaipur Section of NH-11 on the Jaipur-Agra highway. The 4-laning of this high-traffic density corridor is expected to be completed in 36 months at a cost of nearly Rs. 483 crores (an average of approximately Rs. 4.47 crores per km).

This is by far the biggest BOT (Build Operate Transfer) contract under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP)-Phase IIIA.

The Agreement was signed by NHAI authorities with a Malaysian firm M/s. IJM Corporation Berhad, to 4-lane the 108 km long Mahua-Jaipur Section of NH-11 (km 120 to km 228) in Rajasthan on BOT basis. The Concessionaire has been given a grant of Rs. 66.39 crores for a concession period of 25 years (including construction period of 3 years).

Presently, the Mahua-Jaipur Section is 2-lane but on completion, this 108 km stretch would be a 4-laned road with paved shoulders. In addition, it would have nearly 29 kms of service roads on either side in towns and villages through which the highway is passing. It would also have one additional 2-lane ROB (Railway Over Bridge), one major bridge, one flyover (on Dausa Bypass at junction point of NH-11 & NH 11A) and 15 Bus bays.

This is the third Concession Agreement signed under NHDP Phase-IIIA, coming close on the heels of the Rs. 360 crore Meerut-Muzaffarnagar BOT contract inked recently. The 4-laning of Pune-Khed Section of NH-50 (about 30 km) was the first sub-project under NHDP Phase III. Also LOA (Letter of Acceptance) has been issued so far for 14 (fourteen) Civil Works in the states of Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Chattisgarh.
