Twenty one persons have been selected for Indira Priyadarshni Vrikshmitra (IPVM) Award for the year 2002 and 2003, for their exceptional contributions in the field of afforestation and waste lands development. An interaction session was held between media and the awardees today on the eve of award presentation. Speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Environment & Forests, Shri Pradipto Ghosh said the very fact that so many people have been successful in getting this prestigious award indicates that afforestation has become a mass movement in the country and not just a government programme.
