The Empowered Committee on e-Governance has authorized the Ministry of Company Affairs to engage students of professional institutions in its e-governance projects. They would help in the scanning and authentication of digitized documents. The decision was taken at a recent meeting of the Empowered Committee on MCA 21 e-Governance Project here. The meeting felt that the manpower availability in the Ministry of Company Affairs is inadequate to meet the requirements of personnel for file preparation, scanning and authentication of digitized documents. To overcome the shortage, it was decided to engage students of professional institutions for a limited period for file preparation and retrieval of files from record rooms. The meeting also decided to start preparing files before actual scanning during the lean period till the beginning of the peak filing season in October. Premises for two front offices for MCA-21 in Delhi and Coimbatore were identified and approved. The MCA staff will be authorized to use digital signatures.
