president to visit sikkim, meghalaya and mizoram from tomorrow

The President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, will begin a three-day tour of Sikkim, Meghalaya and Mizoram tomorrow. This is Dr. Kalam’s first visit to Sikkim and Mizoram as President.

Dr. Kalam will address and interact with the students of Sir Tashi Namgyal Senior Secondary School in Gangtok and will be given a presentation on the Natural Wealth and Development of Sikkim before he addresses the Sikkim Legislative Assembly on September 22. The President’s other programmes on the same day are the inauguration of the Paljor Stadium and a visit to the Enchey Monastery.

Dr. Kalam will arrive in Shillong on 23rd September where he will inaugurate the Conclave on HIV/AIDS organised by the Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association.

On the last day of his visit on 24th September, the President will address the Mizoram Legislative Assembly and also interact with the students and faculty of Mizoram University in Aizawl. He will also visit Sairang Village where he will have an interaction with villagers and Primary School students there.
