Smt. V. Geetha, Information Assistant, PIB, Madurai has bagged the 5th Sarojini Naidu Prize in reporting. Instituted by the Hunger Project, New Delhi, the Sarojini Naidu Prize annually honours three journalists for outstanding reporting on Women and Panchayati Raj in three categories namely, English, Hindi and other Indian languages. Smt. Geetha has been selected for the award in the ‘other Indian languages’ category. The winners in the other categories are, Mr. Bharat Dogra (English) and Mr. Vimal Gupt (Hindi).

The award carries Rs. 2 lakh in cash and will be presented on 2nd October, 2005 at a function to be held in New Delhi.

The jury consisted of Dr. George Mathew, Director, Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi, Chairperson and Ms. Mrinal Pande, Editor, Hindustan; Ms. Aparna Sen, Film Maker; Mr. T. Raghunandan, Jt. Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj; Ms. Sushma Iyengar, Development Activist; and Mr. M. Malan, Editor, Sun News, as Members.
