In Jammu & Kashmir, Baramulla, Poonch, Kupwara and Srinagar are worst affected districts. Armed Forces Assistance in the affected areas is as follows.
ARMY
Rescue efforts 50 Army columns (Approximately 2500 troops) continue to be deployed in Uri, Tangdhar, Baramulla, Kupwara and Poonch. Eight Engineer teams have been deployed for rescue and relief efforts. So for 450 civilians have been rescued out of which 234 were evacuated by Air. 72 casualties from remote areas of Uri and Tangdhar were brought to town by Army columns. 26 Army dogs have been employed for rescue Operations.
Relief efforts 7000 food packets dropped. 2340 sleeping bags, 800 Coat Parka, 500 Mattress, 500 Coat Parka Inner, 410 blankets and 80 Cooking Utensils have so for been provided. 191 tents provided to civil administration in Uri Sector. Kupwara civil hospital has developed cracks and the entire hospital has been shifted to tents provided by the Army. X Ray facility was provided to 30 civilians in Poonch. A Kruppmann Bridge has been erected over river Chenab at Akhnoor as the present bridge is partially damaged. Help has been provided to BSNL to revive civil exchange at Uri. 21 medical teams are deployed for relief efforts. 1373 civil patients have been treated as out patients,! while 178 remain hospitalized in various Army hospitals. 25 tons of medicines and medical equipment have been provided to civil administration till now. 95 tons of rations have been provided to civilians till date. 3239 tents have been provided to civil administration for providing shelter to needy. Seven relief camps have been established by the Army at Uri, Tangdhar and Poonch. Six tons of medicines have been dispatched from Udhampur to Uri
Additional Resources Mobilised 5000 Mattress Kapok, 50,000 Coat Parka inner, 14,300 Coat Parka Outer, One Lakh Woollen Socks and Two Lakh Trousers are being released for the quake affected people. 1000 tents are being moved from Udhampur to Srinagar. A large number of warm clothing is being rushed to the affected areas. Fifteen heavy-duty generators are being rushed to Srinagar to help NGOs to set up community kitchens for affected people. Six Engineer Task Forces along with one Dozer and one JCB each are being moved by road to Srinagar. Two Additional Engineer Task Forces have been kept as stand by at Army HQ for move at short notice. Three medical teams have been kept as stand by at Nagrota, to move to Srinagar at short notice.
AIR FORCE
Three MI-17, Thirty One Cheetah, Forty AN-32 and Nine IL-76 sorties were carried out Yesterday in J&K and airlifted nine passengers and 193.670 ton relief material. Cumulative air efforts is as shown below.
