Vice President, Shri Bhairon Singh Shekhawat has condoled the death of Shri Dattopant Thengadi. Following is the text of his condolence message:
“It is with profound sorrow that I received the shocking news of the passing away of Shri Dattopant Thengadi.
A life of intense commitment and devotion to the cause of the country has come to an end. To Shri Thengadi, life was simple and straight-forward imbued with a high sense of value and service. He had in him the pride of a man who had the courage of conviction as well as the humility of a true servant of the people. A great votary of Swadeshi, he made swadeshi values an integral part of his personality. All his life, Shri Thengadi worked for and championed the cause of the peasants and workers and never lost his passion for protection and promotion of their interests.
I had the privilege of knowing him as a friend for long years and valued his counsel and support. In his death, the country has lost a staunch patriot and the people their tireless champion. I have lost a very dear friend.
My wife joins me in conveying our heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family and to his large circle of friends and admirers. We also pray to the Almighty that the departed soul may rest in peace in the heavenly abode”.
