The CCEA today revised the cost estimates for rehabilitation and upgradation of Surat-Manor Section of NH-8 from Rs.867.25 crore to Rs.1331.35 crore for increasing the scope of work to include additional works. The additional works include – flyover of four locations, underpasses at ten locations, Highway Traffic Management System (HTMS), additional service roads, illumination at flyovers, junctions, underpasses etc., fencing, and trauma care units.
The additional works would lead to the enhancement of safety (with provision of fencing, crash, barriers, cat’s eye, delineators, HTMS etc.); reduction in accidents and their severity (due to provision of crash barriers, trauma care unit etc.); and better utilization and enhancement of capacity. The project is likely to be completed by the end of 2004.
