Today, in Russia, businessmen have started to reinvest their profits at home rather sending them abroad, a sure sign of increasing confidence in Russia’s future. A shift to more modern, high technology manufacturing and services is understood as the key to Russia’s tomorrow.

Russia, India & China may become "locomotives" of global economy for the first time ever in 2002, experts of the World Economy and International Relations Institute (WEIRI) of the Russian academy of Sciences believe. The three are ahead of all the other countries as regards the pace of economic growth.

They are expected to almost catch up with the share of EU nations in the world gross domestic product. These conclusions are to be found in the published report by WEIRI First Deputy Director and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Dynkin to the international conference on the results of 2001 and prospects of world and Russia’s economy in 2002. Institute experts call attention to the fact that after three years of continuous growth, the Russian Federation is bound to overtake the group of world economic leaders.

There is a huge scope for Indian business to take technologies from Russia, commercialise in India and manufacture back in Russia thus utilizing their huge industrial assets that are lying unused since long. It may be noted here that CIS countries are more amenable to doing business with India.

Russians are very good in algorithms based software and have huge capabilities in this field where India is lacking. Typical examples include security softwares.
