The Technology Mission set up by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries is active in the eight north-eastern States. Its brief is to expedite the growth of horticulture in the region. The area has an immense potential for growth in this sector so as to generate sustained levels of income and job opportunities. The Mission aims at providing linkages for research and development till the produce reaches the consumers. It is addressing areas like planting, productivity, post-harvest infrastructure, processing facilities and market promotion. The States covered by the Mission are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
