The Indian Roads Congress is organising a Seminar on ‘Design, Construction and Maintenance of Cement Concrete Pavements’ in co-operation with the Union Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Ministry of Rural Development and other Central Ministries/Government Departments, National Highways Authority of India, State PWDs and leading public and private sector organisations, manufacturers, consultants and contractors. The Seminar is of three days duration and will comprise of Paper Presentations and discussions on the 8th and 9th October, 2004 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi followed by field visits on the 10th October, 2004.
The Seminar will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Sh. T. R. Baalu at 10.00 A.M. on 8th October, 2004 in Vigyan Bhavan. Shri S.S. Momin, Secretary, Maharashtra PWD who is the President of the Indian Roads Congress for the current year will deliver the Presidential Address. Shri K.H. Munniyappa, Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways will deliver the valedictory Address on the 9th October, 2004.
The Seminar is designed to present state-of-art practices in design, construction and maintenance of cement concrete pavements for roads and airfields and to identify areas of concern and revision of the existing specifications and codes of practices and also in developing new codes/guidelines on cement concrete pavements. The Seminar is intended to present important research findings and also to identify the areas where further research is needed.
The Seminar also aims at informing the highway fraternity about the latest developments in the fields of design, construction and maintenance of Cement Concrete Pavements. It will be of immense interest to all highway professionals and institutions concerned and would provide an excellent opportunity and forum to share their experiences and disseminate the recent advancements made in the field of cement concrete pavements.
The Seminar will cover the following themes: Design of Cement Concrete Pavements, Pavement Options, Construction of Cement Concrete Pavements and Maintenance of Cement Concrete Pavements. The Seminar is expected to be attended by more than 400 experts from India and abroad.
