Indian Railways have designed and validated a standard gauge bogie frame in the FIAT format. One such bogie frame was manufactured and sent to Research, Design and Standards Organization (RDSO), Research and Development Unit of Indian Railways, where it has passed successfully fatigue testing.
Standard gauge bogie frame has been developed for export potential.
Majority of the countries have standard gauge, whereas Indian Railways have broad, metre and narrow gauges. Standard gauge falls between broad gauge and metre gauge.
