Noted film actress, Smt. Sharmila Tagore has taken over as the Chairperson of Central Board of Film Certification today. She has been appointed in an honorary capacity for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge or until further orders whichever is earlier.
In supersession of earlier order dated 11.10.2003 and in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the Cinematograph Act, 1952 (37 of 1952) read with rule 3 of the Cinematograph (Certification) Rules, 1983, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting earlier today appointed Smt. Sharmila Tagore as the Chairperson of the Censor Board. She replaces Shri Anupam Kher.
