All the six Railway Production Units performed well during the first five months of the current fiscal year ending August 2004, with the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai exceeding the target.
The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), the Rail Coach Factory (RCF), Kapurthala, the Diesel Modernization Works (DMW), Patiala and the Rail Wheel Factory (RWF), Bangalore just met the target by rolling out 12 electric locomotives, 427 coaches, re-built 30 diesel locomotives, 50082 wheels and 23391 axles respectively.
The ICF, Chennai exceeded the target by producing 373 coaches against the target of 367.
The Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi, however, fell short of the target by one diesel locomotive. It produced 45 diesel locomotives against the target of 46.
During August 2004, the number of wagons produced fell down from the target. A total of 1277.5 wagons were produced against the target of 1600 wagons.
