A three-day orientation programme on external labour migration policy in India is to be held at the V.V. Giri National Labour Institute, Noida, from November 1-3, 2004. It is being organized jointly by the Institute and the Office of the Protector General of Emigrants.
The programme would address issues relating to emigration and immigration policy in India. Apart from providing an opportunity for the field-level officers to discuss different dimensions of the Emigration Act, 1983 it would also seek to strengthen coordination between the concerned Ministries and Departments. Nearly 20 participants including Protectors of Emigrants, Immigration Officers and Regional Passport Officers would attend the programme. Senior functionaries of the concerned Ministries and scholars specializing in external labour migration would act as resource persons.
