Ministry of Railways has clarified that the blast near the railway track close to Karbandia Station of East Central Railway occurred well after the passing of the Howrah –New Delhi Rajdhani Express on 17.10.2004.
The reports appeared in a section of the Media yesterday that an attempt was made to blast Rajdhani Express is totally incorrect. Preliminary investigations by Railways reveal that the blast occurred due to detonators of very low intensity and crude form used for mining ballast. No damage has occurred to any rail property including the track. A detailed investigation is on. The injured persons were labourers working in a stone quarry located nearby the track.
