The Government has approved the open learning scheme of IGNOU during the 10th Plan period. The Plan expenditure of the Scheme will be of Rs.510.00 crore out of which Government of India share will be Rs.380.00 crore subject to the actual allocation of Plan funds in the budget of IGNOU. This was decided by Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), which met here on Wednesday.
Ex-post-facto approval has also been given to the expenditure of Rs.35.30 crore and Rs.20.00 crore incurred during the year 2002-03 and 2003-04 of the 10th Plan. Continuation of the Scheme at tertiary level after the 10th Plan period will be subject to the allocation of funds by the Government.
The continuation of the IGNOU and Distance Education system will benefit the students at tertiary level.
