There is a growing demand for Indian egg products abroad. With the increase in availability of eggs in the country, the European and South East Asian countries have emerged as large importers of Indian egg products like egg powder, albumin powder and yolk powder. Of late, Japan has also started importing these processed items from India.
As per the latest available figures, India produced 35000 million eggs in 2002 as compared to 27275 million in 1995. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal are large producers of egg.
