government releases 4.83 crore to madhya pradesh, chattisgarh and tamil nadu for iwdp

Ministry of Rural Development has released an amount of Rs. 4. 83 Crore to the districts of Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh and Tamilnadu recently for the implementation of `Integrated Wastelands Development Projects’(IWDP) , a centrally sponsored scheme.

Rs. 27,47,800 has been released to the Zila Panchyat, Ujjain District of Madhya Pradesh as seventh and final instalment of funds for the implementation of Project II of the IWDP. The Zila Panchyat, Raisen District has received an of amount of Rs. 1,96,24,300 as an second instalment for project II. Koria District of Chattisgarh has got Rs. 82,50,000 as second instalment for the implementation of Project-I The Zila Panchayat of Durg District has received Rs. 99,72,800 as fourth instalment for Project-II and an amount of Rs, 82,12,500 has been given to the District Rural Development Agency, Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu as the sixth instalment for project-II.

IWDP envisages the development of non-forests wastelands in the country The development of wastelands and degraded lands under the programme is expected to promote the generation of employment in the rural areas besides enhancing the participation of people at all stages-leading to sustainable development of land and equitable sharing of the benefits.
