Monday, October 25, 2004

The Fifth World Congress on High Speed Rail, EurailSpeed 2005 will be held from November 7 to 9, 2005 in Milan under the aegis of UIC (International Union of Railways) and Italian Railways.

EurailSpeed 2005 will feature a world congress, a high level international gathering of all the key stakeholders in the development of railways across the globe, and the EurailSpeed trade fair, a genuine showcase for the world market for all rail sector industries, railway companies, infrastructure and civil works sectors, institutions, service companies that partners the railways in their high speed operations.

EurailSpeed will be an opportunity to exchange experience and obtain an overview on all crucial aspects of the future development of high speed train systems, including new advances in technology and operating methods, commercial strategies and new service types, political and economic aspects—and the financing of high speed infrastructure in particular—environmental constraints and cooperation with other transport modes.

The four previous EurailSpeed congress in Brussels, Lille, Berlin and Madrid were all resounding successes.

Indian Railways are also considering a high speed rail service with a high speed of 250 kilometres per hour and above.
