The National Capital Region Planning Board gave the much awaited go-ahead to the Draft Regional Plan-2021 for the National Capital Region today in its 27th meeting. The meeting was chaired by Sh. Ghulam Nabi Azad, Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs who is also the Chairman of the Board.
Meeting was attended by Minister for Power, Sh. P.M. Sayeed, Smt. Shiela Dixit, Chief Minister Delhi, Sh. Om Prakash Chautala, Chief Minister of Haryana, Km. Selja, Minister of State for Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation (Independent charge), Sh. B.L. Joshi Lt. Governor NCT-Delhi, Sh. Shiv Pal Singh Yadav , Minister for Public Works Uttar Pradesh, Sh. Pratap Singh Singhvi, Minister for Urban Development & Housing Rajasthan, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development, Shri Anil Baijal and Member Secretary of NCRPB Dr. P.K. Mishra.
The general consensus in the meeting was to accelerate the pace of development of National Capital Region and it was agreed that the NCR Planning Board shall play major role for development of infrastructure and other facilities in the Region with the support of State Governments. The Board also decided in favour of empowerment of the NCR Planning Board to enable it to facilitate implementation of various projects.
It was agreed that the Integrated Rail cum Bus Transit system which includes construction of railway lines for commuter traffic with an interface with the Metro and bus routes will be expedited. The concerned States agreed to the implementation of the project within given timeframe. It was also decided to expedite the schemes regarding road connectivity in the NCR.
It was decided to introduce an innovative scheme for development of City Forests and forests in other areas of NCR so as to improve the environment by increasing forest cover. In-principle approval to the approach for providing infrastructure and incentives to facilitate relocation of industries from Delhi to National Capital Region was given.
The Draft Regional Plan 2021 which covers important aspects of development of the National Capital Region, including the social and physical infrastructure was approved for notifying it to invite suggestions/objections.
It was decided that in future the meetings of the NCR Planning Board would be held in the participating States within the NCR. The next meeting will be held in Haryana.
