The Government has decided to continue the Rashtriya Sam Vikas Yojana (Development and Reform Facility). The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, which met here on Wednesday has approved:
Allocation of Rs.1000 crore per annum for the Special Plan for Bihar during the remaining three years of the Tenth Plan (2004-05 to 2006-07);
Allocation of Rs.250 crore per annum for the Special Plan for the undivided Kalahandi-Bolangir-Koraput (KBK) districts of Orissa during the remaining years of the Tenth Plan (2003-04 to 2006-07); and
Extension of the Backward Districts Initiative component to the backward districts of Bihar namely Gaya, Vaishali, Samastipur, Sheohar, Jamui, Nawadah, Araria, Darbhanga, Purnea, Madhubani, Supaul, Muzzafarpur, Katihar, Lakhisarai and seven districts of Orissa namely Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.
With the implementation of this scheme, accelerated socio-economic development of the areas is expected particularly in terms of the interventions specific to each area.
