The Home Minister, Shri Shivraj Patil inaugurated at Manesar, Haryana today a realistic and durable model of aircraft for practice of anti-high jacking operations by NSG commandoes. The model is the first of its kind in the country and has all the requisite for effective training of NSG personnel in handling hijack situations. It would be very helpful to commando trainees in undertaking the intricacies involved while storming a hijacked aircraft with swiftness and perfection.
In his address on the occasion, Shri Patil said that of late terrorists have used high jacking of planes as a weapon of terror and aviation security in the world it still vulnerable. He said that NSG is performing a preventive role also through deployment of sky marshals in designated sensitive flights for the last couple of years.
During his visit, the Home Minister also witnessed live demonstrations of anti-terrorist operation by NSG commandos.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam will present the President’s colour to NSG tomorrow on its 20th Raising Day.
