Corruption case against two Medical Council Officials

After registering a case against two Dy. Secretaries of the Medical Council of India, New Delhi under the Prevention of Corruption Act, CBI today carried out searches at the residences and offices of the duo. During searches CBI sleuths recovered documents relating to movable and immovable properties and investment in bonds which are under examination.

The case was registered yesterday against the two officials on the basis of complaint received from the Medical Council of India containing Compact Discs of a television programme "Maut Kee Ghoos" shown on a popular television channel on 14.10.2005 in which one of the Dy. Secretaries was shown demanding money for granting recognition to two private medical colleges and the other Dy. Secretary was shown agreeing to accept money for removing some confidential files relating to the registration of doctors with the Medical Council of India.

The searches were carried out at four places in Delhi at Lajpat Nagar, Vasant Vihar, and the offices of the two officials at the Medical Council of India and at DLF Qutab Enclave in Gurgaon.
