tcil pays rs. 21.60 crore as dividend

The Telecommunications Consultants of India Limited (TCIL) has paid Rs. 21.60 crore as dividend to the Government. The dividend cheque was handed over to the Minister of Communications & Information Technology, Shri Dayanidhi Maran by Shri G.D. Gaiha, CMD TCIL, here today. Minister of State for Communications & Information Technology, Dr. Shakeel Ahmad, Shri Nripendra Misra, Secretary (Telecom) and other senior officers of the Department were also present on the occasion. The dividend amount represents 75% of the Government’s share.

During the year 2003-04, the turnover of TCIL was increased to Rs. 544 crore from Rs. 483 crore in the previous year. The profit after-tax has gone to Rs. 47 crore. TCIL’s project exports touched the ever highest figure of US$ 88 million (Rs. 388 crore) during this period. The foreign exchange repatriation was Rs. 69 crore. The shift in business segmentation from wireline business to wireless, hi-tech and IT enabled business are some of the factors attributed to these landmark achievements.
