The Defence Minister of Switzerland Federal Councilor Samuel Schmid met Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi today. Mr Samuel Schmid who arrived in New Delhi on a six-day visit to India on 27th of this month. He is leading a seven member delegation.
During the delegation level meeting both sides discussed defence cooperation, regional and global security environment and international terrorism. The discussion also covered the role of Indian Peace Keeping Force deployed with the UN Forces. India gave information about the high altitude equipment and medicine.
Mr. Schmid will also visit the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Western Naval Command, Mumbai and National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla before returning to his country. The Swiss delegation will also visit Taj Mahal at Agra. Federal Councilor Schmid will become the President of Switzerland next year.
Earlier on his arrival at South Block the visiting dignitary was welcomed by Defence Minister Shri Pranab Mukherjee and he was presented a ceremonial Inter Services Guard of Honour.
