A Special Software for monitoring the works of the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) is to be released next week. The software developed by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation which was under testing for its effectiveness has been found to be a successful method of monitoring the progress of works under the scheme. Each Member of Parliament is provided with funds of Rs.2 crore per year under the scheme to take up developmental works in their constituencies. The funds are released through the district administration in instalments.
Monitoring the works of the Schemes under the current method was found to be, not very effective and hence a new method of monitoring was developed using the Information Technology.
The Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Somnath Chatterjee will release the Software here on Tuesday the 30th November 2004. The Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Shri Dayanidhi Maran, the Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha, the Chief Minister of Delhi, the Chairman of Committee on MPLADS Lok Sabha and State Government representatives will grace the release function. The Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation will preside.
