Indian Railways have planned to launch a service based on mobile phone applications where the passengers can set up an alert system for a specific train starting from a specific location.
In case the train is re-scheduled by more than 30 minutes, the passengers will be informed through SMS regarding the re-scheduled departure. This will enable the passengers to avoid calling up the railway inquiry.
To be launched shortly, the service will be made available throughout the country on a common number to enable the passengers to remember only one number.
The common number service will also be extended to Passenger Numerical Record (PNR) status and reservation accommodation availability.
