The Labour and Employment Minister Shri K. Chandra Shekhar Rao has said that all efforts will be made for making a healthy workforce in the country. He was talking to media persons soon after assuming the office here today. Asked about the rate of interest to be paid to the EPF subscribers on their provident fund deposits, Shri Rao said that he will talk with all concerned partners and then consult the Prime Minister on the issue.

The Minister was on his arrival at Shram Shakti Bhawan, headquarters of the Labour and Employment Ministry, warmly greeted by the Labour Secretary Shri K.M. Sahni and other senior officials. They later briefed him on the functioning of the Ministry.

Born on 17th February, 1954 at Chintamadaka village in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh, Shri K. Chandra Shekhar Rao has a Masters degree in literature. Popularly called as ‘KCR’ in Andhra Pradesh, Shri Rao is known for his excellent political and organising capacities. Shri Rao has been the Member of the State Assembly consecutively six times from 1985 to 2004. He has been elected to Lok Sabha this year. Shri Rao has served as Minister of Transport in Andhra Pradesh government from 1996 to 1999. Later he was made Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly from October 1999 to April 2001. A strong champion for creation of a separate Telangana state, Shri Rao luanched "Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS)" political party on 27th April 2001.
