Shri Aiyar informed that the meeting of the Indo-Norway Joint Working Group would be meeting on 2nd December for exploring areas of intensifying cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector. He recalled the great contribution made by Norway for development of technologies to exploit oil and gas resources particularly in frontier areas like deep sea which in his view will see a spurt in exploration activities for the depleting hydrocarbon resources.

The Seminar draws about 400 Norwegian and 70 International experts as resource persons and lectures for the various activities and programme focusing on key areas relevant to the Indian Petroleum Industry. This will also expose the participants to an understanding of the challenges involved in the efficient, cost effective, safe & reliable development of petroleum systems, in interaction with Norwegian Industry experts. The Seminar on Exploration & Exploitation Technologies has an immediate and profound relevance in the context of the emerging hydrocarbons scenario of India where abundant gas reserves of around 10 TCF have to be exploited to bridge existing emerging gap in the Country.

DGH officers to keep abreast with the latest technological and other developments in all spheres of E&P activities and has regularly organized seminars on topics of special interest like Petroleum Resource management, Deep Water Technology, Advancements in Reservoir Management, Petroleum Legislations, Gas Hydrates, etc

The PETRAD a Norwegian Government owned agency for International Development has been established by the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate and the Norwegian Agency for International Development.
