Indian Railways have started selling milk and milk products including matha, peda, chhena, rosogolla, dahi, kulfi, chhach and related items.
An active campaign has been launched for promoting the use of milk products on the Railways in a big way. The Zonal Railways have been directed to promote State Dairy Cooperatives and other recognized societies for sales and procurement of milk and milk products.
Sales of milk products on the railways are intended to serve healthy food to customers besides promoting dairy farmers and farming as spin offs, which is one of the base of Indian economy.
Target is being achieved through Railway’s policy on procurement and sales of milk and milk products, which benefit dairy farmers directly.
