During the current year RNI has undertaken an intensive exercise in deblocking of unsused titles in favour of intending publishers. In the current year, so far 15, 696 titles have been deblocked. RNI undertook deblocking of unused titles since August 1998 to ease availability of titles in favour of intending publishers. Deblocking of 1,68,201 titles was done in the year 1998. Thereafter, it became an annual feature leading to deblocking of 7181, 11799, 8145 and 8155 titles in the years 1999, 2000, 2002 and 2003 respectively. On an average, over 10,000 titles are approved annually in favour of intending publishers.
