Cotton Corporation of India has been permitted to undertake MSP operation in the State of Maharashtra, subject to the condition that the State Government of Maharashtra would take effective steps to discontinue the Maharashtra Raw Cotton (Procurement, Processing and Marketing) Act, 1971. This was decided by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), which met here today.
It has also been decided to reimburse loss if any on this account to CCI by the Government of India, as in the case of other cotton growing States. This is to ensure remunerative prices to the cotton growers in the State of Maharashtra.
