Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Chairperson, National Adivsory Council has said that it is her dream to see that each and every child in the country is covered against all vaccine preventable diseases. She said this in a message on the occasion of Pulse Polio Day, here today. The text of the message is as follows:

“Today, 21st November – the Polio Ravivar – an important day for the nation, as we continue our efforts, to make our country polio free at the earliest.

I am reminded on this occasion, when not too long ago, five identified sectors were accorded the highest priority under the Technology Mission Approach, one of which was a national immunization programme. Today under this national immunization programme, we are at a critical stage, working hard and hoping to see our country polio free at the earliest.

The present government is fully committed and I am sure that all resources and support have been made available to the States, who in turn are expected to ensure effective implementation of this immunization programme.

It is my dream to see that each and every child of our country is fully covered against all vaccine preventable diseases.

I wish the organizers all success in their endeavours.”
