The Delhi Legal Service Authority is celebrating Legal Service Week from 3rd November 2004 to 9th November 2004. During the week it is holding Legal Clinics/Legal Literacy Camps and setting up Legal Counseling Centres at various places in the capital city. The object is to reach the entitled categories of Delhis population like women/children, SCs and STs, handicapped persons and labourers with annual income below 50,000 rupees and to apprise them of the availability of free legal aid.
The authority is also organizing programmes for the benefit of under trials in jails and holding a Lok Adalat for accidental claims and settling matrimonial and rental disputes etc.
The Executive Chairman of the Delhi Legal Service Authority, Justice B.A. Khan said that the objective of holding such programmes was to create awareness in the society of the availability of free legal aid and ensuring justice for all particularly the weaker sections.
