The Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Culture Shri Jaipal Reddy will inaugurate the 35th International Film Festival of India, the first one to be held in Goa, here tomorrow evening. Thespian actor Dilip Kumar and renowned actor Aamir Khan will participate in the inaugural ceremony, where the Governor of Goa Shri S.C.Jamir will be Chief Guest. Chief Minister of Goa Shri Manohar Parriker will be Guest of Honour.
The inaugural proceedings will be kicked off by a welcome address, followed by addresses by Shri Dilip Kumar and the Goa Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar. After the inaugural address by the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Shri Jaipal Reddy, the dignitaries on the dias will launch the Festival by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Dignitaries lighting the lamp will include the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Governor of Goa, Chief Minister of Goa, actor Shri Dilip Kumar, Union Secretary, Information and Broadcasting Shri Navin Chawla and actor Aamir Khan. The inaugural function includes a concert by A.R.Rehman and his troupe, with an introduction by noted film maker Subhash Ghai.
The inaugural film is Mira Nairs film Vanity Fair, which will be screened after the cast and crew of the film are presented to the audience. The audience will also be introduced to the International Jury for the Asian competition.
Meanwhile, Panaji is seeing an influx of celebritiesnoted film maker Subhash Ghai and music composer A.R.Rehman have arrived, while Aamir Khan is expected to arrive tomorrow. Thespian actor Dilip Kumar and his wife, famous heroine of yesteryears Saira Bano are also expected to arrive tomorrow. Actor Amitabh Bachchan is expected to come in later this week, to present the film Yesterday on December 1, World AIDS Day on behalf of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
