The Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), a subordinate organisation of the Ministry of Coal & Mines, during its regular inspection in September, 2004, observed that Devpura Soapstone Mines of M/s. ACC, Rajasthan and Bakhara Limestone Mines of M/s. Mangal Minerals, Rajasthan have not estimated their reserves properly. The parties followed the IBM observations and re-estimated their reserves. Devpura Soapstone Mine got 43,862 tonnes of additional reserves worth Rs.2.48 crore for mining and Bakhara Limestone Mines found an additional reserve of 2,28,000 tonnes worth Rs.2.73 crore.
While inspecting the Codcaveda Javalachem Upor Iron Ore Mine of Dr. Prafulla R. Hede, Goa, IBM observed that there was ore under a village road passing through the lease area. The party on their advice applied for diversion of the road and found 1.3 million tonnes of ore with 50 to 55 per cent iron under the village road. On the IBM advice, Majhagawan Diamond Mine of M/s. NMDC, Madhya Pradesh carried the de-silting work of 10,000 cu. m. and for additional silt removal of 50,000 cu. m. from its spillway nallah. The party also constructed 1.6 km. long retaining wall and repaired the damaged check dams.
