The world’s first hospital on a train popularly known as Lifeline Express will be on display for the public for three days from November 7 to 9, 2004 at the National Rail Museum, New Delhi.

There will be a preview for Media on November 6, 2004.

The Lifeline Express, the world’s first hospital on rails, was first launched in July 1990 by Impact India Foundation in collaboration with Indian Railways. Impact India Foundation, set up in 1983, is an international initiative against avoidable disablement.

So far, the Lifeline Express has served medically over 400,000 people in the country, with donated skills of more than 70,000 medical personnel. It also restored surgically mobility, sight, hearing and correction of clefts.

Impact is a worldwide initiative promoted by UNDP, UNICEF and WHO in association with the Government of India.
