The Union Health and Family Minister, Dr Anbumani Ramadoss, is leaving on a four day visit to Tanzania tomorrow to attend the Ninth board Meeting of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The Minister is a member of the International Board which includes all donor and recipient Governments, Non Governmental Organizations, Private sector and affected communities. Key international development partners including World Health Organization (WHO), Joint United Nations Programme on HIV AIDS (UNAIDS) and the World Bank are also expected to participate in the meeting. The Minister is being accompanied by an official level delegation consisting Additional Secretary and Project Director, National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and Joint secretary, Ms Rita Teotia.
It may be recalled that the Global Fund was created to increase resources to fight the three most deadly diseases in the world:AIDS, Tuberculosis and malaria. It is an innovative approach to international health financing.
