Indian Railways have developed a light weight variety of BOXNHS wagons with improved payload to tare ratio and stainless steel body. It has been designed as BOX NLW.
Two hundred fifty BOXNLW with stainless steel body wagons are under manufacture.
A variant of BOXNHS with stainless steel body has been developed and designed as BOXNCR. Ten rakes of BOXNCR wagons are presently under trials. Mass production of these wagons will be taken up on successful completion of service trials.
