The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal to grant Constitutional Status to the National Commission for Minorities and for introduction of a Bill in the Parliament to amend the Constitution of India to give effect to it and another Bill to repeal the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992 in the Parliament.
The Constitutional status to the National Commission for Minorities would infuse greater confidence among the minorities about the working and the effectiveness of the Commission
