The Chief Minister of Chattisgarh, Dr. Raman Singh called on the Union Minister of Railways, Shri Lalu Prasad here today and discussed with him construction of 235 kilometre long Dallirajahara-Rowghat-Jagdarpur new line on cost-sharing basis among the Ministry of Railways, Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL), National Mineral Development Authority and the State Government of Chattisgarh, earlier Madhya Pradesh. It was decided to recast the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed earlier on April 2, 1998 in this regard. It was noted that the problem struck on account of non-clearance from the Ministry of Environment and Forests for mining operations in Rowghat area, SAIL has not deposited the amount with the Railways till date, resulting in the construction work not taking off.

Both the sides agreed to review the matter after a month. Meanwhile, the anticipated cost of the proposed line has gone up from Rs.369 crores to Rs. 969 crores.
