The Ministry of Food Processing Industries has assisted 348 food processing training centres in the country so far. The primary objective of these centres is to train rural entrepreneurs in food processing. The weaker sections of the society are given priority.

For developing rural entrepreneurship and for providing experienced hands, a grant of Rs.2 lakh with Rs.1 lakh as revolving seed capital is provided for a single- product line centre. It is expected to function as production-cum-training centre for rural entrepreneurs. For the multi-product line the grant is Rs.7.50 lakh with a revolving seed capital of Rs.2 lakh. The implementing agency is required to deploy qualified trainer, provide accommodation, infrastructure and utilize locally grown raw material.
