National Council (JCM), the apex body of the consultative machinery for the Central Government Employees, met here today under the Chairmanship of Shri B.K. Chaturvedi, Cabinet Secretary. Senior leaders of the Central Government Employees and Secretaries of various Ministries/Departments participated in the deliberations.
In his opening remarks, Shri Chaturvedi said that in its continuing bid to provide good governance, the Government was contemplating a series of administrative reforms which would smoothen the interface between the government machinery and the public. These reforms would include new initiatives to make the administration more efficient, transparent, citizen-friendly and accountable. These steps are being taken to fulfill rowing aspirations of a democratically governed people as also to meet the new challenges thrown in by the imperatives of globalization. He also called for a further strengthening of the JCM Scheme.
Later, various issues of importance concerning more than 30 lakh Central Government employees and their families were discussed with a view to find an amicable solution and to ensure harmonious relationship.
