The total production of Aluminium metal in the country during the first half of 2004-05 has been 4,21,006 tonnes as against 4,00,990 tonnes during the same period last year. Out of this, the public sector National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) produced 1,56,629 tonnes and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) with 49 per cent Central Government equity 47,936 tonnes. The private sector Hindustan Aluminium Company Limited (HINDALCO) produced 1,65,043 tonnes, Indian Aluminium Company Limited (INDAL) 32,920 tonnes and Madras Aluminium Company Limited (MALCO) 18,478 tonnes.

Total production of alumunium metal during September 2004 was 74,702 tonnes against a target of 74,599 tonnes. Out of this, NALCO produced 28,034 tonnes, BALCO 8,715 tonnes, HINDALCO 29,416 tonnes, INDAL 5,450 tonnes and MALCO 3,087 tonnes. NALCO sold 71,430 tonnes of alumina and exported 7,294 tonnes of aluminium during the month.
