A news report appearing in a section of the press today has said that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh’s scheduled visit to Jammu & Kashmir on November 17 and 18, 2004 has been “postponed”. This is factually incorrect. There is no change in the Prime Minister’s scheduled visit to the State. The Prime Minister will visit the State as scheduled.
Apart from being factually incorrect, the news report is also irresponsible and tendentious in dealing with a subject of national importance.
The Prime Minister is looking forward to his visit to Jammu & Kashmir and to meeting and interacting with a wide cross section of the people of the State.
